Nathan was chosen to participate in Leadership Plano in 2002. As a graduate of Class XIX and a lifelong resident of Plano, he has come to understand the inner workings of the community. Since his graduation from Leadership Plano, Nathan has served in various roles throughout the community. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Plano Youth Leadership from 2002 to 2005. During his tenure with Plano Youth Leadership, he was able to work with local youth in the development of their leadership skills and educating them about local governmental, business, and social organizations.

Having grown up watching his mother serve in both the Plano Service League and the formation of the Junior League of Plano, Nathan was fortunate to be asked to serve on the Junior League of Plano’s Advisory Board from 2003 to 2005. During his tenure on the advisory board, Nathan was able to work with the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Plano during his two year term. Nathan's wife Alisha is currently a member of the Junior League of Plano and sits on the Project Council as the CITY House chair.

Nathan has also served on the Board of Directors for the Assistance Center of Collin County from 2002 to 2006. He is served as Vice-Chairman of this organization. Throughout his tenure with the Assistance Center, a United Way agency, Nathan worked with both the City of Plano and the P.I.S.D. in providing assistance to the citizens and students of the P.I.S.D. who are in need. He was instrumental in the agreement between the City of Plano and the Assistance Center of Collin County which transferred the processing of aid to hurricanes Katrina and Rita evacuees to the Assistance Center of Collin County.

Nathan’s commitment to the youth of Plano is further exemplified by his work with CITY House, a local temporary emergency shelter and counseling center for area youth. He has served on the Board of Directors for CITY House from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2008 to the present. Nathan has served as the Vice-Chairman of the organization. During his time of service to the CITY House, the agency has procured land and began construction in Plano to build a temporary emergency shelter for younger children. This ongoing project named My Friend’s House is close to Nathan’s heart. He is playing a key role in the development, planning, and construction of this future facility.
Nathan is currently a member of the City of Plano Parks and Recreation Planning Board. He began his term on this board in 2005 and has worked with the board during the planning and development at Oak Point Park, the Tom Muehlenbeck Center, and Memorial Park.

Nathan is also currently a member of The Plano Rotary Club. Nathan has been involved with Rotary since 2006 and currently sits on the Board of Directors for this club and is the Membership Chairman. During his service with the Rotary Club he has been involved, again with local youth, by working with the Annual Soap Box Derby and by serving on the Rotary Club's scholarship committee. Nathan also serves on the Board of Directors for the Plano Rotary Foundation, a separate charitable branch of the Plano Rotary Club.

Finally, Nathan is also a member of The Plano Chamber of Commerce. Through the Chamber Nathan served on the Board of Directors for the Plano Chamber of Commerce's Political Action Committee from 2008 - 2009.
