In 2002, Nathan was asked by the P.I.S.D. Board of Trustees to serve on the 2002 Blue Ribbon Boundary Committee. He served with leaders of the district, including the Superintendent and his cabinet, teachers and parents, along with other community leaders, in formulating a plan to adjust the district’s attendance zone boundaries. The goal of his work on this committee was to provide for the best possible student to teacher ratio and to provide an equitable distribution of students throughout each of the district’s three clusters. In 2003, Nathan was invited to participate in the Plano Education Foundation’s Educator Internship Program. During this program, he was able to shadow the P.I.S.D. Deputy Superintendent and observe the inner workings of the district on a day to day basis. Throughout this program he was able to attend and participate in meetings between the district and state representatives to discuss school financing reform. In addition, he was able to attend meetings of the Superintendent’s cabinet. Nathan was once again asked by the P.I.S.D. Board of Trustees to serve on another district committee in 2004. He was a member of the 2004 Facilities and Bond Task Force, otherwise known as the 2004 Bond Committee. Again, serving with the Superintendent and his cabinet, teachers, parents, and other community leaders, Nathan was asked to oversee the formulation of the district’s 2004 bond program. This bond package focused on construction of new facilities within the district as well as the repair and renovation of existing facilities in order for these facilities to accommodate increased enrollment and programming needs. The goal of his work on this committee was to be sure that the facilities within the district were able to provide the physical requirements for an exceptional level of education for years to come. Based on Nathan's extensive experience with the P.I.S.D., Nathan most recently was asked the P.I.S.D. Board of Trustees to serve on the 2008 Facilities and Bond Task Force, otherwise known as the 2008 Bond Committee. As with the 2004 Bond Committee, Nathan again served with the Superintendent and his cabinet, teachers, parents, and other community leaders, and was asked to oversee the formulation of the district’s 2008 bond program. This bond package also focused on construction of new facilities within the district as well as the repair and renovation of existing facilities in order for these facilities to accommodate increased enrollment and programming needs. Since Nathan’s began working with the P.I.S.D., he has desired to serve as a Trustee for the P.I.S.D. Nathan has met with the Superintendent and his entire cabinet to discuss the current issues facing the district. He has also met with every single current Trustee along with various principals, teachers, and parents to discuss the current issues facing the district at a district wide, campus, and classroom level. |
